first impressions

Where and how do I start to describe our lovely stay at Sausage Tree Safari Camp? I was very excited to spend the night in a tent, in the middle of the bush, which for me is the closest way to experience the savanna, and it was an absolutely beautiful experience. We felt so spoiled.

Everything was truly perfect, from the warm welcoming from the staff that received us with a smile and a cold mimosa, which we were very grateful for in the warm weather, to the exciting game drives and the delicious food. Let me tell you now that they take special considerations for guests with dietary requirements, all attention top notch.

the details

Sausage Tree Safari Camp consists of five luxury, safari tents and a main reception/lounge area. Each tent accommodates two people which makes it very friendly and intimate at the same time. The staff pay so much attention to detail and to each guest individually, making one feel immediately comfortable and cosy.

In my opinion, that’s a perfect balance, because after all, how we are looked after during our holiday is something we will always remember.

But further than the service and kindness from the staff, the tents at Sausage Tree Safari Camp are designed to make you feel at home. They are very spacious, each one with a full bathroom en-suite with amazing local amenities, bathrobes, hair dryer… even an outdoor shower, tea/coffee tray and private terrace just to enjoy the views out on to the bush.

And I cannot forget to mention the aircons in each tent, very important on warm days in the savanna.

Even being in the middle of the bush everything was thought of… and what I mean by this are simple things like different kinds of plugs and USB outlets and good Wifi connection in the rooms. Because, lets be honest, this makes life a bit easier.

creating bonds

The communal areas are perfect to exchange friendly conversation with other guests while enjoying the view, the pool and a cold beer or glass of wine, or choose a local Gin from the selection of craft gins on offer.

Sausage Tree Safari Camp have a privileged position on top of a hill with an ocean of green bush underneath and the Blyde River Canyon as a background, a breath taking view that you can enjoy from the decks.

I will never forget the experience we had while having breakfast on the sky deck with the rest of the guests. In front of the deck, there is a water hole where often, all kind of animals come to drink. That morning there were some impalas around when suddenly one of the guest shouted –“lion, lion at the water hole!!!!”-. It was early in the morning and not an especially warm day, so a couple of lionesses decided to try their luck and hunt an impala. They did not succeed but I will always regret not having my camera around. But that’s how the bush works, you never know what might happen next.

At dinner time, the ambient atmosphere in the traditional ‘boma’ all together around the campfire, listening to the stories from the guides, creates amazing memories and friendships.

the safari experience

All these incredible services, just makes the safari experience better at Sausage Tree Safari Camp.  The game drives were stunning and for me it’s amazing all the knowledge the guides and trackers have. They are like walking bush encyclopaedias, super professional and funny. They share all they know very well, with ease and with many laughs too!
